Dr. Ibironke Sodeinde was born on the 3rd of June, 1956. She attended Holy Trinity Primary School, Lagos; Jibril Martin Grammar School, Lagos and Methodist Girls High School,Yaba, Lagos for Higher School Certificate. 
Dr. Sodeinde pursued Medicine in Medical Academy,Sofia, Bulgaria on Lagos State Government Scholarship after which she studied at Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital of Imperial College, London, United Kingdom  for Postgraduate Diploma in Internal Medicine. With the zeal of combining Curative medicine with Preventive medicine, she attended College of Medicine, University of Lagos to obtain her Master Degree in Public Health.

Dr. Sodeinde added value to herself with Managerial skills obtaining Master Degree in International Management from University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. She further enhanced her knowledge scope through Action Learning Facilitation Training in United Kingdom; Special Executive Management Programme, Dubai; Mediation Skills Training at Lagos Multi-Door Court; UNITAR Resilience Action Program; Leadership & Management in Global Health(University of Washington, USA).

Dr. Ishola Subedat Temitayo is an energetic, hardworking, responsible and enthusiastic medicine and surgery graduate with keen interest in managing patients with excellent professional ethics.
She joined Lagos State Health Service Commission in 2009 and presently works at Ebute Metta Comprehensive Health Centre as the Head of Paediatric Department where she received a merit award for being an Highly Resourceful and Dedicated Officer in Year 2014. She also serves as the Focal Person for Measles, Acute Flaccid Paralysis and other Notifiable Diseases, with World Health Organization (WHO)/Lagos State Ministry of Health. She has had several paper presentations at schools, seminars, workshops and conferences.
She graduated from College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (University College Hospital) with an MBBS (IB) degree in 2005. She attained her postgraduate studies from Boston University School of Medicine in September 2016 with certificate in Postgraduate Program in Paediatric Nutrition (PGPN), Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos in February 2018 and Leadership and Management in Health (LMIH) from University of Washington in June 2018.

DR Temitope OMOSEBI is an enterprising young woman and a Senior registrar in department of Restorative dentistry who has contributed significantly to the medical profession. She loves to empower women and children to live up to their dreams.
Temitope has shown exemplary leadership in her work place, and place of worship as a protocol officer. She was a member of LOC NISORD (Nigerian Society for Restorative Dentistry) 2017. She is passionate about oral health awareness and has been involved in several outreaches in schools, worship places and rural communities disseminating oral health information.
In her quest for knowledge, Temitope has had numerous training locally and internationally on Aesthetic dentistry, Endodontics and implantology. She is currently undergoing residency training to become a fellow in her field of specialty.
Dr Temitope OMOSEBI is MWAN Lagos Treasurer, 2019-2021 biennium, saddled with the responsibility of co-ordinating income generation/fund raising committee.

Dr Obasi-Obonga moved to Promasidor Nigeria Limited as Head Of Medical Information Services in February 2016. Dr. Adewole Ajoke

Dr. Adewole Ajoke is a Public Health physician, Nutritionist and Epidemiologist. She is a Specialist in Community health and Primary Care and has a masters of public health(MPH). She has bagged several public health, nutrition and physical fitness certifications from John Hopkins, London Tropical School of Hygiene, University of California, University of Melbourne, University of Washington, University of Washington among others.

She is a member of the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria and National Medical Association. She has run two terms as the Young Doctors’ Coordinator of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Lagos state where she mentors and inspires female doctors and dentists under the age of 40 years to be healthier and more productive . She volunteers as a program officer in the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and poverty alleviation (WAPA) and Women Consortium of Nigeria (WOCON). As the President of MWAN Lagos (2017-2019 Biennium), Dr Omowunmi Bakare worked assiduously with her team to give MWAN Lagos extensive publicity among the populace. Several programmes and projects were implemented to the delight of the members and the community. Such programmes included School health programme (Donation of WASH equipment) to primary schools in Mainland LGA. Breast and Cervical cancer screening programme received a boost with extensive collaborations with the State Government and corporate organizations. The Young doctors Forum (Doctors Under 40years) was strategically reactivated and became operational and the Elders’ Forum (Doctors above 60years).
The hallmark of 2017 -2019 biennium under the leadership of Dr Omowunmi Bakare, was the complete RENOVATION of MWAN secretariat located at 34, Market Street, Oyingbo. The first time a total overhaul would be done at the secretariat since it became operational in 1993. The MWAN secretariat was repositioned to offer Well-Woman Services (Comprehensive Women-Focused health services and programmes).
Dr Omowunmi Bakare is an alumnus of the prestigious College of Medicine of the University of Lagos (CMUL) and a Fellow in Public Health of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCPH). She worked in numerous Directorates in Lagos State Ministry of Health and became a Deputy Director/Acting Director. She teaches undergraduate, postgraduate students and other allied specialties at Lagos State University College of Medicine, Ikeja.

Dr Yemisi Kila

Dr Yemisi Kila Uvie-Emegbo, BSc., MB.BS, FMCPath, is currently the immediate past Secretary, MWAN Lagos State Branch. She is a Consultant Anatomic Pathologist and a Lecturer at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja, with over a decade of experience in pioneering excellence in healthcare leadership, healthcare policy, clinical research, and leadership roles within the public and private healthcare sector in Nigeria.
She graduated (MB.BS) from LASUCOM in 2006 and was the valedictorian of its pioneer class. She completed her fellowship in 2018, with special research interest in the areas of Gynaecological and Gastrointestinal Pathology.

A passionate Medical Woman, Dr Yemisi Kila Uvie-Emegbo has since 2005, been in the forefront of MWAN’s activities on health promotion, awareness, sensitization, capacity building and service delivery. She collaborates with relevant Government and Non-Government donor agencies/Multinationals to extend sensitization, awareness, screening, diagnostic, preventive and quality care services for improving adolescent & maternal health, non-communicable diseases, care & support for victims of violence against women and girls and advocacy for health policy change.

She has served in different capacities in MWAN – as an internal auditor, Assistant Secretary, Secretary, Chairperson of the 21st Biennial and 40th Lagos MWAN Anniversary Local Organizing Committee (LOC), and a member of the Committee of the MWIA 2019 Triennial Conference and Centennial Congress report.

She received the 2007 Best Female House Officer in Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) award, and the Outstanding Contribution award during the 2017-2019 MWAN National Biennial.
She is married with children.

Dr. Funmi Ige

Dr. Funmi Ige is a seasoned Physician Anaesthetist and Administrator. She is the Head of Anaesthesia Department, General Hospital, Ifako Ijaiye.

She is a product of College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idiaraba (1998) and also University College Hospital, Ibadan (2007).

Dr. Ige had her first degree in Biochemistry (B.Sc. (Hons) Biochemistry) from Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo and was part of the institution’s second graduating set that witnessed the very first Convocation ceremony of the University in 1990.

She did her NYSC in Kaduna State (1990/1991) and went on to obtain a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry from CMUL, Idiaraba (1993), Lagos before proceeding to Medilag.

She possesses an Advanced Professional Diploma in Hospital Management and Administration (ADPHMA) and Leadership in Management and Health (LIMH), University of Washington.
Dr. Ige was Secretary of MWAN Lagos in the 2013- 2015 Biennium and LOC Chairperson of the 21st Biennial Conference held in 2019.

She is an ordained Deaconess of the Baptist denomination and the Chairperson of the Medical Committee of Shalom Baptist Church Akowonjo (2002 – date). She was the past Chairperson of The Good News Baptist Association’s Medical Committee ( 2004- 2015) and has been involved in organising and coordinating several medical screening and out reaches with CBOs, FBOs, and different NGOs since 2002.

She loves teaching, counselling and mentoring. She also does manuscript editing and compering at events (MC).

Dr Omowunmi Bakare was born over fifty years ago in Isale Gangan, Ita-Akanni area of Lagos Island to the family of Alhaji Sabiu and Alhaja Sidikat Ajisomo of blessed memory. She had her early education at Ojuelegba Primary School, Surulere and Ladi-Lak Nursery & Primary School, Yaba. Her Secondary education was Lagos State Government College Ojo and the Advenced level of education at Federal Government College, Ijanikin.

Dr Omowunmi Bakare is an alumnus of the prestigious College of Medicine of the University of Lagos (CMUL) and obtained the MBBS degree in 1989.  Housemanship and the National Youth Service Corp were at Ogun State University Teaching Hospital Sagamu and Occupational Health Clinic at Nigerian Telecommunication Ltd (NITEL), Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Dr Bakare worked briefly in the private sector before joining the  services of  the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara state in 1996. She enrolled for and obtained Masters in Public Health (MPH) degree and the Residency training programme in 2000 and 2008 respectively.


Dr Omowunmi Bakare commenced her working career with the Lagos State Governmnt in the Ministry of Health in 2001 as a Medical Officer and working meritoriously in different departments and units until 2014 when she transferred her services to the Ministry of Education (Lagos State University College of Medicine Ikeja).   In the Ministry of Health, she was a Deputy Director/Acting Director in the directorate of Disease Control, Programme officer for Non-communicable Disease  (NCDs) Control programme, Malaria Control Programme,  Cervical Cancer Control programme, Safemotherhood Coordinator, Rural Health Programme Coordinator etc.    She served in several committees at the Ministry of Health – Lagos State Malaria, Technical and Advocacy Committee (LASMARTAC), Lagos State Health  Research Committee etc.

Dr Bakare  is  a Consultant Public Health Physician and currently works as a Lecturer at the Department of Community Health & Primary Health Care at the  Lagos State  University College of  Medicine, Ikeja. She is also an Honorary Consultant to Lagos  State University Teaching Hospital Ikeja.    She has attended and presented  conference papers at local, regional and international conferences organized by MWAN and MWIA.

She  is married to a friend and helpmate, Mr Olanrewaju Sule Bakare and blessed with three  beautiful adults.

Dr Frances Oluwafunmilayo AJOSE

Dr Frances Ajose is a Consultant Physician Dermatologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Ikeja, and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Lagos State University College of Medicine. Prior to this she was for 14years the Physician and Head of Medical Services at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Ibadan, an arm of the United Nations.

Dr Ajose’s other administrative experience includes Headship of the Department of Medicine LASUCOM for over 3years, The Manager Department of Medicine Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for 3years

She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Fellow of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Member of the British Association of Dermatologists, Member African Society for Dermatology and Venereology Member, Nigerian Association of Dermatologists and Member Nigerian Medical Association.

Her academic contributions are in the areas of psycho-dermatology, phyto-dermatology, skin physiology as well as Pigmentary Disorders of the skin.

Her working experience include various hospital positions in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol, Sunderland and Kent in the UK, and LUTH and General Hospital Lagos

She was educated at the Lagos Anglican Girls School Broad Street, Lagos; Queens College Yaba; the University of Lagos  College of Medicine; the University of London Institute of Dermatology; University of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of Edinburgh Postgraduate Board for Medicine. An Advance Diplomate of the Lagos Anglican Bible College and graduate of The Equipping the Saints Ministry, Dr Ajose also holds a Professional Certificate in Cordon Bleu Cookery,

Dr Mrs AJOSE is a Christian, a Diocesan LayReader at the Cathedral Church of Christ Marina Lagos, where she is a member of the Busy Bees Society, the Medical Society and the Mothers Union. She is the President Queens College Old Girls Association, President of The Busy Bees Society of Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral  and Board member the Clinic of that church.

Dr Mrs Frances Oluwafunmilayo AJOSE, whose hobbies include contemporary music, dancing, cooking and golfing is a mother of four graduates one of whom is also a Dermatologist.
